Christmas its the most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!

Many of us are probably counting down the days until Christmas. Some us might be dreading having our family over and cooking huge meals. Some of us might have procrastinated our Christmas shopping until the last minute and are panicking now as to what to get our family and friends. However, Christmas is a time of joy, giving, thanks, and enjoying precious time with our family and friends. Its a time for listening to Christmas carols and putting up Christmas trees and decorating our houses with lights of all sorts of colors, lawn decorations, and etc. Christmas is my favorite time of year I love driving by at night seeing all the houses decorated with all its beautiful decorations.

After a Semester in College...

After a semester in college I feel like I did alright. In the beginning of the semester I felt as though I was drowning in my schoolwork. With assignments atop of assignments to get done. Whether it be reading assignments, presentations or papers to write. There just didn't seem like was enough time in the day to complete everything. I had an extremely terrible habit of procrastinating and not knowing what to complete first I can be working on an English assignment and then all of a sudden stop doing that and begin on an assignment for my Discover New York class. I feel as though I been getting better at managing my time and my grades seem to be improving. Then when it was time for midterms I realized I had to maintain my G.P.A and work even harder. My midterm grades were decent but I felt as though I could have done better. So, I decided that I am going to work twice as hard next semester and try my best to get straight A's.

Would you commit a federal offense to find the Perfect Guy?

In the ABC Family Original Movie "Holiday in Handcuffs"
which premiered tonight at 8pm. Well, Melissa Joan Hart who plays a struggling artist/waitress did! She kidnaps one of her customers (Mario Lopez) to bring home to her parents after her boyfriend breaks up with her after promising to come home for the holidays to meet her parents. At first he hates her and tries to escape by using a cell phone numerous times until she smashes it and flushes it down the toilet. He tries everything possible to escape...he realizes that he fell in love with her along all the chaos. It really is a movie that not only brings in the holiday spirit but the love of the holidays. Watch it it'll bring a smile to your face.

Disney's Enchanted...is a quite Enchanting Film

On Friday December 7th my friends and I went to see Enchanted the new Disney movie which combines the animated world with our real-life New York City. This movie combines two classic Disney movies together such as " Cinderella," "Snow White." The movie starts off with Princess Giselle (left) in her magical animated land of Andalasia. However, on her wedding day she is pushed down a wishing well by her fiancee's stepmother who is disguised as an old woman. The well leads her to modern -day New York city (right). She seems lost and is looking for her castle. Giselle is fighted but finds herself getting help from a friendly divorced attorney. His compassion helps her to survive in New York City. She is caught in a love triangle when she has to choose between her Prince Edward who she was to marry or Robert (the friendly divorce attorney). This movie is a cute must-see you will just have to catch it in the theaters to find out who she picks.

Beauty Queen gets tangled up in her own set of lies

In SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico police are questioning accusations that somone put pepper spray on a Puerto Rican beauty contestant's clothing. Miss Puerto Rico Universe Ingrid Marie Rivera and pageant authories stated that someone had laced her makeup and doused her clothing with a chemical they believed to be pepper spray during the November 23 contest in an attempt to knock her out of the running. Forensics later found out that her clothing and makeup contained no traces of pepperspray. Therefore, police concluded that she has a lot of explaining to do. I think that she planned this and it was all a hoax. She deserves to have her crown taken away from her.

The Chaos of Shopping on Black Friday & Cyber Monday

While others might be sleeping off the meal they had the day before whether it is an oversized turkey, yams, desserts and many other delicious foods of the Thanksgiving holiday. Others were waiting on line at midnight for the stores to open to start their Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving most commonly known as “BLACK FRIDAY.” On midnight at Thanksgiving people waited outside for “early bird specials”, “special discounts.” Which would get you ahead and save you money on your holiday shopping. However, along with the good discounts comes millions of other shoppers who are also trying to find the perfect gifts for their family and friends. Many stores such as Gap, Old Navy, KB Toys, JcPenny, Circuit City, Best Buy and many others opened as early as 4 am on Black Friday to offer amazing discounts. 72 million people shopping online on the Monday after Thanksgiving which has recently been named “CYBER MONDAY. I think that its ridiculous that so many people are willing to shop so early in the mourning to get really good discounts and wait on line for 2-3 hours to purchase items along with millions of other people I don’t understand why they can’t wait till the following week.

Dare Not Lie

Don't tell me you love me if you are not honest and dear

For a lie that strong can destroy me life and bring on me a new horror and fear

Fear to be loved, fear to never be able to love ever again

It can cause my delicate heart to break, rip and bend.

Think everything in life that will be forgotten

because of one small broken promise you made to me.

So,when I put all of my trust deep inside you

Please don't tell me you love me,unless you truly do.

When Will it End...The Strike that No One Wants

The Writer’s strike which started this past Monday isn’t only affecting the networks but is also affecting the viewers. This strike is going to be a major test of loyalty to the fans. Networks, studios, writers, agents, managers and everyone else – are in turmoil this week. Shows such as ABC’S Desperate Housewives, Private Practice and Ugly Betty; NBC’s Heroes; the CW’s Smallville, Gossip Girl, and many others are trying to shoot two episodes a week to get as many episodes as possible able to air. Heroes’ creators are considering changing what was supposed to be a season finale into a series finale. According to the Los Angles Times “But almost everyone agrees that once the supply of new scripted episodes gets burned off -- say, by mid-January -- network prime time schedules would quickly devolve to the two "Rs": reality and repeats. Reality shows generally don't use guild talent, so existing series like "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars" would be strike-proof. The strike might also lead to more prime0-time sports.” I cannot understand why the networks are refusing to give the writers what they want. If they want a raise them I think they should give them one; the writers are the ones who are making money for the networks without the writers there would be no shows, late-night shows such as “David Letterman”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, “Jay Leno” and others. The networks will probably suffer because with no good shows comes no viewers and no show-obsessed fans (which I’m sure every network loves). Therefore, I think that the networks should let give the viewers what they want.

Christmas: Hectic or Peaceful????

Have you been to Macy’s lately or for that matter any other stores in the mall? It seems like a Winter Wonderland in every store you visit; with Christmas lights and garlands hanging from every direction and Christmas trees everywhere. It is a tad bit ridiculous if I may say so …. I mean honestly it’s not even Thanksgiving yet Halloween just passed. It’s a little ridiculous and they already have makeup, watches, wallets and many other items in festive holiday boxes. However, we can’t seem to resist starting our Christmas shopping instead of waiting until after Thanksgiving because the stores bombard us with nicely packaged items which we can’t resist purchasing them. Christmas is still a time for giving, sharing and being with your loved ones. It’s a time for decorating your Christmas trees, houses, windows and doors. Putting up Christmas trees, them as well as your them with your family or friends. It’s supposed to be a peaceful & joyous time, but come December the peacefulness and joy of the holiday season disappears …and is replaced by stress and tension as we struggle through the crowds of hundreds of people in popular stores trying to figure out the perfect gift for their family and friends.

King Tut Unmasked

On November 4, 2007 in Luxor,Egypt the mummy of King Tut was “put on public display for the first time on Sunday.” It has been eighty-five years since the 3,000-year-old boy pharaoh's golden tomb and mummy was fist discovered in Luxor, Egypt’s famous “Valley of the Kings”. Archeologists removed King Tut’s sarcophagus from his tomb; they carefully removed the white linen that covered his corpse. This revealed his wrinked and dried up face( which was blackened) and body which almost seemed leather-like. King Tut’s mummy was damaged badly and scientists are working on restoring it. By placing the mummy in a portable CT scanner they were able to see that its body was broken into eighteen pieces. They concluded that it was probably due to Howard Carter Carter (who was the first person to discover the mummy’s concealed tomb on November 4, 1922) when he tried to pull off the mummy’s mask. However, Dr. Zahi Hawass who is Egypt's antiquities chief fears that this new discovery will cause increased tourism (approximately thousands of tourists a month) which will lead to Hawass says “"The humidity and heat caused by ... people entering the tomb and their breathing will change the mummy to a powder. The only good thing left in this mummy is the face. We need to preserve the face." It is still unknown of how he died. There are mixed feelings regarding the mummy’s release to museums some believe he should be left alone other’s want to go see his mummy and claim it’s a once in a lifetime experience. I find this discovery fascinating and remarkable it is amazing on how with today’s technology we can discover somewhat of what he looked like and determine how his body was damaged.

All Hallows Eve

Today, Halloween to us means throwing awesome costume parties, giving candy out to children, decorating our houses with frightening monsters and creatures such as Frankenstein, Mummies, Witches, Zombies, Werewolves, etc. Halloween is also the one time a year when we can be whatever or whoever we want to be. We celebrate, act silly and just have fun. But with all the chaos and superstitions about Halloween we wonder occasionally what is Halloween? What is its orgin? How did it come to be? Halloween was originally a pagan holiday known for honoring the dead and was originally referred to as "All Hallows Eve" and dates back to almost 2000 years. All Hallows Eve was designed by Christians in order to convert Pagans and it is celebrated on Nov 1st known as All Saints day. Today's Halloween (modern) wast was invented by the Irish Celtics their festival of "Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture" The Gaels believed that on October 31st the worlds of the living and dead will overlap and the dead will resurrect and cause chaos on certain crops. Costumes were worn as a way to impersonate evil spirits or soothe them. Eventually, the Romans took over the Celtic land and several of the Celtic traditions and festivities were incorporated into the Roman culture. A Roman festival Feralia which is usually celebrated in late October by the Romans for the recently deceased and the celebration of the Roman Goddess Pomona, who is the goddess of fruit. The tradition of bobbing for apples is originated from the Roman Goddess Pomona.

Drowning

I feel like I’m drowning deep inside the depths of the unknown.
Slowly very slowly I’m going deeper
I try to breathe through my nose and mouth; trend the water to save myself.
Nothing is working
I’m going slowly very slowly deep into the unknown.
Water is all around me, there is no escape.
This is it, my end; it’s my time to go.
I don’t want to go; there is so much I still want to do.

I’m too young my life is just beginning why does it have to be the end?
I wanted to do so much more.
But I guess it’s too late now.
I was diving into the water not knowing how deep it was.
Just having a little fun in the sun with my friends and now I’m going to die.
I hear my friends calling my name but it very faint because I’m too deep.
I see one of my friends up above dive into the water trying to save me.
Saying “Take my Hand.”
I attempt to but I can’t he’s too far away.
I try again and again and again.
Finally, when I have no energy and I’m about to give it up.
I try once more at last I succeed.
He pulls me up and I’m unconscious after I’m given CPR I begin gasping for air.
Thankful, that I’m alive I have learned my lesson
I will now LIVE MY LIFE TO its Fullest.
I’ll be more outgoing, more risky, challenge myself and just live my life.
Because I only have one life to live so why not Live it Like there’s no Tomorrow.

It's YOUR Life ... Don't let ANYONE get in your way of Living it !!!!

There are people who we have either never met or that we know that seem to judge us by our appearances and do not take the time and make an effort to get know us for who we really are. Well, let me tell you something “if people don’t seem to like you for no apparent reason then its their loss not yours because one can be kind, generous, loving and smart and shouldn’t care what anyone else thinks of them you don’t need them in your life.” How many of you have heard this saying from your mothers when you were little and now hear it from your best friends? Well, that’s because it IS true you shouldn’t care what anyone else thinks of you.” Don’t let anyone stop you from following your dreams and be who you were born to be, be outgoing, and just have fun cause remember you only have one life and one chance so live like there’s no tomorrow.

What Every Girl Wants...

Every girl wants to find that perfect guy
A guy that makes her smile and makes her laugh
until she has tears in her eyes.
A guy who will stop by her job school or home just to see her face.
Someone that will make the most ordinary moments seem magical.
The guy who wants to show her off to all his friends
Who thinks she’s the most gorgeous girl in the world even if she’s in her sweats and has no makeup on.
And she thinks to herself as he smiles at her
“This is the perfect guy for me”.

Are We Safe Anymore?

Why has the school setting become the place where young men lash out ? They go on a killing spree for no apparent reason and then kill themselves. In the last few years, months & days we have seen, heard & read horrific stories about disturbed young men lashing out their anger on their peers & teachers. We as students are at their mercy when we venture out everyday and come to school...

Just Friends or Something More?

I thought we were just friends until recently ago.
I see you glancing at me from the corner of my eye.
I feel you staring at me from behind.
Why won’t you let me know the way you feel?
Why are you making it so hard for me to read you?
You’re like a book, with an unfinished middle and without an end.
Our friendship is the beginning
Where we are right now is the middle.
But what about the end?
Were we meant to be just friends?
Or something more?

There's a Time ...

There is a time in everyone’s life that things just don’t seem to be going right. It could be family, relationships, friends, health problems and/or emotional problems. It becomes very difficult dealing with these issues and sometimes we just want to try to forget if only for a short time. I feel that although these situations seem overbearing at times and we often ask ourselves why me? With the help and support of our family and/or friends we somehow manage to overcome these hurdles. Although at the time we may seem selfish and self-centered the support from our loved ones prayers, encouragement, and comfort all help in way or another to bring us closer and appreciate each other more than ever. It takes a catastrophe to realize what are really important not materialistic things but family and friends.

The Small Things in Life

In todays hectic busy, on the go way of life, we tend to forget about the small things in life that make us happy. We wake up take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast fast and head out the door to begin yet another crazy day of dealing with traffic, getting to school on time, going to class then work and then finally going back home for maybe a sit down dinner with the family if everyone is home and not at soccer, dance, and baseball practice. After dinner we then have to begin our homework and before you know it it’s ten and you watch some television then go to bed and start the next day all over again. We seem to have little time to actually just go for a leisurely walk or sit in the backyard and take in the sun or just simply spend some time with our family and/or friends. Maybe just for a moment or two look around and just appreciate “your mom’s cooking” as its aroma welcomes you to your home sweet home. The coziness of your home, the laughter around you as your brother says another stupid joke.

What's Happened to.....?

I don’t understand celebrities these days…what happened to the days when people looked up to them as their role models? Britney Spears for example was a sweet innocent “girl-next door” until the limelight got the best of her. Britney Spears took a turn for the worst; few years later when she got pregnant with her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s children this what appeared to be happy couple took a turn for the worst. Britney checked herself into rehab. Then left rehab and walked into a salon sat in a barber’s chair and asked a hairdresser to shave all her hair off. When they hairdresser refused she snatched a hair buzzer and shaved her long beautiful hair off. She hasn’t been the same ever since. Recently she’s been under the limelight yet again when she appeared in the MTV music awards where she appeared very uncoordinated in her dancing and lip-singing. She was also dressed inappropriately instead of wearing a corset which was specifically designed to make her body appear slimmer she choose to wear a bikini top with boy shorts. Let’s hope that she finally will be able to get her life in order and become once a pop sensation like she once was.

Why I Write

It was a perfect night for a stroll along the beach under the moon and the stars. As the moonlight shown its reflection on the water it seemed to make the night seem almost magical. I began to think about why I write: I write to release my sadness. I write to comfort the lonely. I write to happiness. I write to love in the world. I write to hate. I write to forgive. I write to forget. I write to help me face my fears. I write to help me face the unknown. I write to ease pain and sorrow. I write to discover. I write to uncover. I write to turn my dreams into reality. I write to face my demons. I write to escape the horrors of an unjust world. I write to help those who have had unjust deaths have a voice. I write to guardian angels that have helped us through our darkest times. I write to accept things that I cannot control. I write to the tranquility that the beauty of nature brings. I write to turn the impossible to possible. I write to reminisce. I write to show the bonding between mother and child. I write to show the passion of newfound love. I write to comfort others in times of despair. I write to share happiness and joy. I write to face my nightmares. I write to follow my dreams. I write to the future generations to come. I write to hope. I write to heaven. I write to a better world to come.
